Giving a historic Newcastle landmark a new lease on life
A new look and website for Nobbys Lighthouse.
The historic Nobbys Lighthouse has been an icon of Newcastle since its establishment in 1858. The lighthouses current custodians Newcastle Now, engaged Shorthand to help them fulfil their vision for the headland.
We developed a new brand identity and website designed to reposition the headland as a boutique tourism and event destination.
The elegant brandmark was designed as a nod to the simplistic black and white design of the 1800s — complemented with a cool colour palette sympathetic to the landscape.
We created a new one-page microsite to showcase the history and the beauty of the site, as well as to giving a look at things to come. The website went on to be featured on The Best Designs and Communication Arts.
